won't you be my neighbor?
Good neighbor, might I borrow a few inches of elastic cord? This one little ingredient is keeping me from finishing an artsy clutch from Bend-the-Rules Sewing. I have a hunch that you neighbors out there in blogland would have such an ingredient in your sewing box, and would be more than willing to lend if I showed up on your doorstep with a pair of scissors. Meanwhile, our here-in-the-flesh neighbors have a well- stocked and often-borrowed-from pantry, but I'm rather certain that they are not provisioned up for sewing. Plus it's nearing midnight... Improvising with braided embroidery thread didn't work out so well, so I'll be heading off to the fabric store as soon as I can. In the meantime, here's a sneak peak at the clutch's fabric - thrifted silk in very, very bad light. Hrrmmmph.

oh, that silk is beautiful. can't wait to see the clutch. i've been itching to make one of my own. but i need to go out for the cord, too.

I hate it when that happens. To get hold of elastic cord for mine I had to hack apart last year's Christmas goodie bags. But it was worth it not to have to pause at the final hurdle for a shopping trip!

I have some. You can definitely borrow it. If you can get here and back in a jiffy.

What about a pony tail holder, I have tons of them and ever since I cut my hair short it doesn't fit in a pony, try one of those. I won the very same clutch from a blog giveaway just the other day, i love it!!! And you could ring my doorbell(if I had one) at midnight, you'd find me up, making something, or on the iMac bloggin away

Ooooh! Such lovely fabric! I can so relate to your frustrations in trying to adapt one notion in place of the one you really need... sometimes that works, but when it doesn't, wouldn't it be nice to be able to borrow from a neighbour ;o)
